Church Plant in Burundi, Africa July 2013.
I am planning a third trip to Africa this July. The purpose of this trip is to take part in a church plant in the nation of Burundi. Mugisha Leonce has been trained as a preacher in Lusaka, Zambia by Douglass Sakuwaha. In July we will be conducting a Sunday to Sunday crusade in Burundi with the goal of starting an Independent Baptist church in that nation.
Please pray for: Safety while on this trip, souls to be saved, wisdom for Bro. Mugisha Leonce, God’s favor with the government and men as Douglass and Mugisha travel to Burundi in March to complete registration with the government. Please pray that the pastors from the USA will be burdened for this needy nation.
Historical background: A decade long civil war ended in 2006. Over 300,000 people were killed, with another 550,000 being displaced. This is a significant percentage of its 8.5 million people. Burundi is a very poor nation with an average annual income of just $160, or just over $13 per month. 28% of the population still does not have access to safe drinking water.
The reason this church planting trip is so exciting:
A Zambian trained man planting a church in another even less reached African nation. This is our vision: to teach Zambian churches to have a burden to do this all across Africa. We thank God for the opportunity to be part of what HE is already doing in Africa. Please remember to pray for one of the first INDEPENDENT BAPTIST churches in Burundi!
